Lawnmower weight tuning
Moderator: robbosmans
I'm a student and mow lawns in my spare time.
I currently run a 40Kg petrol RR6 lawnmower.
Does anyone know of any cheap bolt tuning upgrades?
I'm thinking a lighter lawnmower, will enable me to mow more lawn per day and get me more $$$ for bike bits.
what selection of carbon lawnmower wheels are there?
I'm thinking rotational mass the best place to start.
I'm also thinking, if I went tubeless, of the weight and rolling resistance benefits.
hoping you can help

You could change the main bulk head of the RR6 to the RR6a, which is an enhanced aluminium alloy that saves weight without compromising power loss through long grass.
Your main blade shaft could probably be swapped out for a titanium one, though they can be hard to find. Saves 1.2kg, but costs around $350.

Get rid of the air filter and reduce the length of the handles to no more than 18"

Ceramic bearings for the wheels, silly boy! you can probably drill out lots of stuff too for that retro 70s-lawnmower look
Well, you could always upgrade to something else. I'm quite happy with my Honda HR215SXA
5 hp, 3 speed, Aluminium deck, recoil start (lighter than electric), 21" cutting width, 8" plastic wheels and six height adjustments.
101lbs (dry weight)
