Cadence90, have you had any experience with Spada's hubs? Sub 200 gram rear hubs are being offered by many manufacturers these days, and I am curious what advantages they may offer over other brands.

Their BB certainly seems nice. I have had great luck with my AC unit, but a 20+ gram saving would be nice :)

Spada BB:
Scandium spindle: 118g. $150 from Spada-USA.
Titanium spindle: 165g. $150 from Spada-USA.
Weight Limit: Scandium: 230 lb.

Torque settings:
Crank bolts: 43-48 Nm (32-35 ft-lb).
Cups: 40 Nm for the RH cup, 20 Nm for the LH cup (fitted after RH cup is torqued).

what you forget to tell the people is that you HAVE TO USE those LOOOONG BOLTS that come with the BB.
so please don't make them think they get a 118g BB when in reality the bolts add 30g or so.
the BB is the same than New Ultimate and others. you can get them with double or triple bearings. and the one that is actually 118g (mine was 117g) has a weight limit of 80 kilos if i'm not wrong. the Al-axle is hollowed out to M14!! that's why you have to use massive and long crank fixing bolts which support the axle and bearings.
for MTB you can get it with triple bearings and much fatter al-axle.bolts are then M12 and shorter.

her's the New Ultimate with and without the bolts. so as you can see the weight, although still very light, isn't just 118g anymore.

I do not own Spada hubs/wheels (yet). A few guys on this forum do, so they might respond with more precision, but I have seen them and know a bit about them, and I'm confident that they are an excellent hub. But we might have to ask Ivan Basso that, for a second opinion. 8)

Hey, I'm not Dick Cheney, I don't make people think anything....
Yes, the BB requires bolts, that's true.
It's also true that the bolts weigh +/- 30g.
I am quite certain that the Spada BB has triple ceramic-hybrid bearings, and has a weight limit of 100 kilo in the Scandium version. I find it plenty stiff and smooth. Others who have used it have attested to the durability.

BB with triple bearings...

here's a pic of the same BB with triple bearings. same 108mm hollow scandium axle, samme inner diameter ,you have to use those same long M14 bolts.:
133g...+30g bolts = 163g

at this price you are talking NO WAY are there ceramic bearings!Tune offers their BB with ceramic bearings too but that comes at an INSANE price tag. i would really like to see that Spada BB with triple bearings at 118g pictured on a scale like mine...

That photo looks nothing like my Spada BB.
Nino, there are enough wars in the world...I'm not getting into a New Ultimate/Spada/tune/AC/Token/etc. conflagration.
I really don't care what BB other people buy, and, no, I don't have "evidence" photos on a scale; it's on my bike and I have trust in the person I bought it from. I already posted a photo of the BB. All I know is:
That I weighed mine and it's 118g; the spindle is Scandium; the bolts are M14x28 and weigh 12g each; the bearings are triple ceramic-hybrid; that it cost me $129.95; that I weigh 90 kg; that the BB is fine for me; that I like it; and that if the BB turns out to be terrible, I'll also let people know that. Over and out.

so ceramic balls save 20g...???c'mon. it seems you never actually have seen the balls of a ISIS BB then. they measure 1mm only.

seriously? 1mm dia balls... thats 0.039" that's nothing. Sheez, if they really are that small I'm sticking with the ol' square taper.

yes - 1mm!
i installed a FRM ISIS and it lasted not more than 100m before the bearings were toast...i was shocked to see such tiny balls inside. that's the reason you won't find ANY durable ISIS BB. the bearings are too small -period.

What about your new ultimate BB, how's it holding up? More then 100 miles I hope.

the 117g New Ultimate went on another guys roadbike. the triple bearing BB isn't used yet. my FRM still does it's job with the 2nd set of bearings.they are replaced easily and cost "nothing".
BUT i still wished i never switched to ISIS. with my 134g square BB i never had any issues, with the ISIS i'm constantly wrenching. stiffnesswise i coudln't tell the difference.

Spada-USA - Do business with Mark Hoskin at YOUR OWN RISK

Mark is a conman and cheat, through and through. Myself and others have had very bad experiences in the past dealing with his other "businesses" such as Fir-USA and Tec frames. He has ripped off literally hundreds of cyclists over the years for thousands of dollars. He will promise delivery and never come through, but always charming you into giving him some more time, assuring you the product has shipped (even giving out phony tracking #s is SOP for him).

He always finds obscure European companies that make good products and are looking for US distribution. However, he claims to be a distributor for them but really isn't a true company authorized distributor. He just buys from them and turns around and scams US customers into thinking they will get there product. Sometimes people do eventually get the product. You might even have been lucky enough to have a smooth transaction with Mark, but the odds are you will get burned.

I see you've taken the initiative to triple post  this same response on this forum, so I assume you have quite a beef with this person, of what specific and personal nature I'm not sure.

My question is: given the severity of the allegations your post(s) contain, what actual proof do you have that the Mark you refer to is the same Mark (of Spada-USA) that nzkiwiguy, I and others are referring to?

I personally have not had any problems, regarding delivery of Spada or FRM product, from Mark of Spada-USA (I do not know his last name), and I think the others (at least several) on this forum who have acquired product from him have also not experienced delivery problems of any kind.

If someone who is reading this on this forum feels they have been scammed by Mark at Spada-USA, I would be interested to hear of it.
If, instead, people have received the product they ordered in timely fashion, I think that also should be stated.

I personally believe that one should be very certain of such allegations, and be able to provide indisputable evidence of such, prior to posting in a public forum.

For what it's worth, I know Brad and he is an honest, good person. I haven't spoken to him about Mark Hoskin, but I did know there were issues with the club in the past.
