While we're on bike brands and popularity, I just want to know the price of say... the following, in different countries.

Cannondale R2000I
Cannondale R3000I
Trek 5200
Trek 5500
Giant TCR 1 carbon
Giant TCR 1 Alu

Just a ball park RRP figure. I have placed the prices in Australian $, ball park RRP.

Cannondale R2000I.....$5200 AUD
Cannondale R3000I.....$7500 AUD
Trek 5200....$5200-5400 AUD
Trek 5500....Mid to high $7000
Giant TCR 1 carbon low to mid $5k
Giant TCR 1 Alu mid to high $3k

again these are ball park and one shop may have them cheaper than another, however I just want to gauge the prices.

cheers

Not sure about the cannondales as none of the shops I frequent carry them. But the 5200 is about $2500, and the 5500 is about $3500.

http://chainreaction.com/04roadcarbontrek.htm All of the higher end Treks.

Europe:

Cannondale R2000I = $4025
Cannondale R3000I = $5610
Trek 5200 = $3925
Trek 5500 = $5000

....can you imagine 4K USD for an Ultegra bike

In all fairness it's generally not a problem to get 10% discount even on the newest models in Europe. If you know the shop a little better maybe 15%.

In the Netherlands are the following prices:

Cannondale R2000I = msrp €3299
Cannondale R3000I = msrp €4599
Trek 5200 = msrp €3299
Trek 5500 = msrp €4199

The price of the Trek's I got from www.salden.nl, they will give you at least €500 reduction.

I know that the prices in the Netherlands are quite low in comparation with other European countries. Only in Germany are many shops who are real cheap. For example you can get in the Netherlands the 2004 campa chorus group without hubs for less than €800
