I know this is not news to many here but this is the first news article I've seen written about them. This would appear to be the first carbon item Shimano has released.

The 7700 wheels were also available in a carbon rim version.

I've been riding carbon Shimano since the mid 1990's. Shimano carbon soled shoes.

if you read the article they are also developing a tubeless version. I can't see what the benefit would be. Not like on a MTB. If the side of of one of those blows it would be messy.

I only read that Shimano is developing new wheels with tubeless technology. They didn't state they were going to be carbon. If they are however it would mean carbon clinchers as well.
