Give Lew a break.
At least he's making an effort on creating a new product, ok, maybe too much blah, blah, blah, but what if this wheels outperform lightweights? Maybe they will, maybe not, but lets wait until someone with an objective point of view has ridden them before bashing...who is going to be the first WW to own a set?

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of biased opinions already and no one I know of has rode the wheels yet.

The comments regarding the UAVs are retarted. That so called ugly UAV got them a 1.2 million dollar contract it looks like. http://www.lewaerospace.com/news.htm Can't be all that bad or the government wouldnt be buying.

I suspect there are a lot more to the new wheels that what's presented. I hope someone here gets a set and posts some valid opinions. It also looks like they are setting something up at Red Rock Casino for try and buy. I will be in Vegas in the next month, so if that is true I will let you guys know...

I have a great idea, Cees-give a discount to someone who is NOT convinced your wheelset is the best and let them ride them and post their feedback here on WeightWeenies. This is a win-win situation for all concerned.

You will get feedback from a rider on this forum who will be happy to ride your wheels and you get some great advertising.

Remember, its' not enough that the pros ride your wheels-if you are selling them to the general public you can create alot of positive buzz from doing this. I volunteer MYSELF :D for this offer. Hope to hear from you soon, brother!!!!

What is up with the anti Lew attitude? How can people make opinions without seeing the product in person or riding it? I thought this was Weight Weenies not bash weenies. Lets wait for some reviews on how the product performs!

First off, I would love to try a pair of these lew wheels, the idea of being able to replace spokes is HUGE, that is THE ONLY THING keeping me from buying lightweights. I would love to try ada's, lightweights, and these lew wheels, however my finances do not allow. I can not wait to get a review from a fellow WW member, these seem to have great potential.

I think you should ask what's up Lew's attitude.

I'm not terribly impressed so far.

1. I wonder about how the spokes are secured at the hub and rim.
2. I wonder how laterally stiff the rear wheel is with 4 of its spokes running to a central flange.
3. The weight limit raises questions since LEW says that the wheels are stronger than wheels twice their weight.
4. The statement about brakes pads is muy unclear. Is LEW saying that metal shards in pads won't harm his rims?

However, the NACA 0029 profile on spokes is new. As far as I know, no metal spoke actually has an airfoil cross section, and I know that ADA and Lightweight wheels don't have airfoil spokes. LEW's chosen airfoil ought to have a pretty big stall angle, so the drag on the spokes oughta be less than other wheels for a given crosswind.

As for his UAV....it's damned cool. You have to look at the thing aerodynamically, and in that sense it's muy beautiful. Of course I could be biased. I worked on an industry project for something similar. The outward similarity between what LEW came up with and the blended body design I came up with is striking. Of course, my design didn't have fences at the wing roots....and the chosen airfoil cross sections as well as the shape of the lifting body are prolly different....but still, I looked at his UAV and said, "Well, I'll be damned. Don't that look familiar?"

I never said it wasn't a good UAV, I just said it was ugly.

This is what a UAV should look like

i just want to know what the 'yellow spoke of champions' thing is... does this mean that mavic came out with a yellow spoke and champions road their wheels, so anyone using a yellow spoke also must have a championship pedigree?
