Does anyone know off hand if Dedi have a crash replacement policy?

I went down today and cracked by Mag00 stem (only a month old).

I contacted Dedi and was referred to their US & Cdn representatives. Received a response quickly advising that unfortunately they did not have a "crash replacement policy". Followed up with a phone call to their US Rep and while they lended me a sympathetic ear again reiterated that there was no policy regarding replacement (at a lower cost) of components damaged in an accident. I was told that I was fortunate in that I discovered the crack while checking my bike over rather then in a subsequent catastrophic failure of the stem.

Home owners insurance has too high of a deductable. Story doesn't end here as I purchased the stem with my Visa Card. Visa (at least where I live) provides purchase protection in some instances on certain plans they sell. Accident is one of the specified perils as long as the claim is filed within the specified time limits. Checked with Visa and was referred to their insurance adjuster. Filed a claim and got the entire purchase price plus tax back within 3 weeks of mailing the claim. No advertisement for Visa but I have to recognize that I have derived extra value using this Credit Card. In the world of "high end" bicycle componets extra purchase protection turned out in my case to be a money saver.
