I am finally getting around to installing my Extralite ScalHead headset into my Scott CR1 frame and the instructions say to grease the cups and frame before pressing the cups in.

There seems to be an ongoing debate as to whether or not carbon should be greased (example: seatposts), so I am not sure if I should grease them or not.

The ScalHead has an O-ring on the outer part of the upper cup. Maybe it would be a good idea to grease the cups to prevent this O-ring from tearing while pressing them in?

I already greased the bearings and cones.

What do you fellows think? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
