SRAM eTap CR2032 lifespan

After a solid 6 months of using my SRAM eTap HRD Disc groupset on my Winter bike, I pulled my Summer bike down from the hook after 6 months of not being used to find that both of the CR2032 batteries in the shifters had died over the winter. Admitedly the weather has been cold, and the groupset is now 2 years old, but how long are people getting out of their shifter batteries?

I replaced them at the start of every season when I pull the bike out of the rafters and get it all set up again. CR2032 are so cheap

Not a cost issue. Just surprised since the bike hadn't moved, the mech batteries were removed that they had drained over the winter.

I installed mine Mar 2016, still going strong today with no battery changes. Status lights on the shifter paddles are green. (Do they turn orange/red when they are low like the derailleur batteries do?) I probably have about 10-15,000 km on those batteries, and I leave the bike idle in the basement for a couple months in the winter.

I replaced mine at year 2. They weren't dead, but thought it was time to be safe.

the manual says two years life, though mine are now past that by a month or so

i check each week that the indicator is still green

according to the manual once it goes red there's supposed to be at least a month left, flashing red means it really is time to change

i'd just change at the first red

Mine are working great after two years, still green.
