Suggestions for light-weight saddle *with* padding?
Moderator: robbosmans
Fellow WWs,
I am after suggestions for light-weight saddles that have some padding and are not just carbon-fiber leaf springs.
Anyone ride on a Fabric ALM Ultimate? It's received good reviews in Cycling Plus and on road.cc: 145g claimed weight, some padding, 3D-printed construction in cooperation with Airbus...sounds spiffy!
Thanks!
Scott

In not sure where WW begins for saddles. Two of my bikes have S-Works Power Pro's@163g's and to me, that's heavy compared to anything under 90 if you're trying to build something sub-6kg.
I'm currently looking at the Selle Italia c59 while only 63g's, it can hold 250lbs.

You really need to try them out to see if they are suitable.
Will suggest Shimano pro stealth or turnix.

Meld custom saddle! For the price of std top saddle you have a full customised saddle to you taste (shape, design), anatomy (foam imprint), use (move back and forth, channel...) and desired specs (carbon or steel rails, rails size...).swright wrote:Fellow WWs,

What about Selle San Marco Aspide Superleggera? 109g guaranted , this is on my list, and thoughts ?
Berk List padded 90g
I gotta thing going with aliexpress power carbon knockoffs. 30 bucks. 185g. But wait... . Strip off the covering and the foam, 105g. Add contact cement and 3 or 6mm neoprene, 110g.
Go to ebay, search sheepskin hide. Get a 1 sq ft piece of whatever you like, 15 bucks or less. Use the old cover for pattern. Contact cement again (Vittoria Mastic One or Weldwood) and voila, instant 120g comfortable saddle with custom leather. I've done 2, one in plain black but the last is pseudo buffalo brown looks freaking awesome. Comfy if you like the power.

Highest end Romin Evo in 143mm is 131g on my scale.
After trying many padded and unpadded for me at mid age and 65kg, I found it doesn't really matter that it's padded. What's important is flex in the carbon base/rails (and if you have a very stiff bike, heavy behind or take long rides 5h+, that will limit your seat options).
Youtuber Ronald Kuba made me curious about dash saddles. If I could score one cheaper 2nd hand I would try one. Weight and comfort for extreme riding it seems.
