Trek Madone - CAmpagnolo Super record EPS
Moderator: robbosmans
I'm curious. When you install this kit for a Campagnolo crankset, do you replace the Campagnolo bearings with some other bearings to make it fit? And you don' t use Campagnolo BB cups?
No, the kit is super easy, bearings stay on the Campy crank. You just have to install the seal seats (black outer alloy pieces that get attached with retaining compound to the BB). It actually makes the TREK BB90 bottom bracket look much more finished. Then you just add a couple of supplied spacers, use the wavy washer supplied with the kit and install the crank. The C-clip is not used. You can check it out in my Trek Koppenberg build if you like, I've shown the steps there somewhere.

This really has nothing to do with this thread, but if you're talking about fitting a 30 mm spindle into a Trek BB90 then no that is not possible. The BB90 shell diameter is only 37 mm which combined with a 30 mm spindle would leave almost no room at all for the bearings. Rotor do not have a compatible bottom bracket.

I guess my question is...why wouldn't EPS be compatible with the Madone with integrated internal wiring.
Were there any particular challenges associated with EPS versus Di2...presuming Etap would be the easiest build.
Since the integrated Madone can also accept cable shift groupsets, I presume there isn't a groupset out there that won't adapt.
Lovely build and well done.

I have never been a fan of BB90 with its all carbon bores with poor abrasion resistance and wish Trek would use an alloy bore inserted BB that would even accept a 30mm spindle.Calnago wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2018 6:21 amNo, the kit is super easy, bearings stay on the Campy crank. Thank you for your post.
Thank you for the explanation xadubo33 of why the challenge to EPS on the integrated Madone. Well done on your surgery to the head tube upper steerer collar and appreciate sharing of your craftsmanship. Some lucky rider is going to have one hellova race bike.
Great pictures.
Do you think it could be possble to do something similar with the new Madone SLR stem and handlebar?
Fron theinterface there are 2 cable going to the shifters. How do you run them? First through the groove you made in the headset-topcap and then into the stem and handlebar?
