Hi guys !

I've decided to subscribe to this forum because I thought I could get some help/advices about the last component I need to buy for my new bike. I'm building a Stinner Gibraltar-D in 1x11 and the only thing that I need to chose is wheels.

I want to ride 28mm Pro-One tubeless Schwalbe's on it, so I'm looking for a wide wheel. Unfortunately Enve 4.5 AR Disc are out of my budget. I'd like to get some profil on it (30 to 55mm max). My budget is from 1,500 to 2,500 max (CAD dollars).

As for now, I have 3 choices. I like all of them, but I'll give you the thing that bugs me about each)

Zipp 303 Tubeless disc (heavy for the price)
Stan's no tube avion pro (seems very good, but some people say that the have no "fun feeling")
Roval CLX 50. (the only thing that bugs me is the name... I feel it won't fit putting specialized component on my bike since it's not a Specialized..)

Any other ideas of brand that I might have forget ? I don't take out the idea of building a custom wheelset, but I'd prefer to save the hassle.

Thanks !

Too bad for you if you rule out the Roval CLX 32 or 50 wheels.
I have a set with those same Schwable tires on them
They are light, fast, feel good and are priced better than Enve 4.5

Aren't the CLX 50 hookless? Doesn't that preclude them from being (safely) used with clincher tires (as ENVE clearly indicates in respect of its hookless SES 4.5 AR wheelset)?

From what I read on the specialized website, they have hooks for regular clincher tires, but are tubeless compatible (2bliss ready).

Don’t give up on getting the Enve 4.5 AR. I was in the same boat as you a few months ago, I searched for “enve demo wheels”, ended up finding a shop on the east coast that had a brand new “demo” set unused. They sold them to me for 1799 shipped, out of state so no taxes too. I called Enve, full warranty and they told me how to register them. I know I got lucky, but deals are out there.

How about the Hunt 30 carbon aero discs? https://www.huntbikewheels.com/products ... 27wide-999

They can come set up with the Schwalbe Pro Ones.

I don’t have them, but they get good reviews: https://cyclingtips.com/2017/05/hunt-30 ... et-review/

For rims like HED & HUNT, all nice and good.

But, is it easy to remove that sticker / decal of their brand logos? I prf a clean look.

I have built a set of this exact wheel for a recent bike and I absolutely love them. That rim is excellent. Be sure to check your package carefully when it arrives since, much as I like Bdop, their stock picking can be random. Their customer service is good.

My set came completely unlogoed on either rim or hub so this is a good choice if you like an unbranded look.

I like the Hunt wheels idea, they look very good and a lot of people even some teams seems to use them.

27mm is really the smallest I would go, since I will be using 28mm to 32mm sometimes.

To bad the HED belgium is 25mm wide, I really want something wider.

I'm putting my head around the Roval's. I wish they did CL32, it would be a nice option.

The Belgium+ is 21mm wide internal, which is very appropriate for 28 to 32mm tires. Even exceptionally so. Internal width is what matters here.

I wouldn't call just 25mm external width as wide.
Okay maybe it's wide 2 years ago. Now it is just average.
18mm internal width is decently wide, however.

Light bicycle, 21mm internal and 28mm external
36mm https://www.lightbicycle.com/Road-bicyc ... lable.html
46mm (only 20 grams extra) https://www.lightbicycle.com/Road-bicyc ... lable.html

Venn 507 disc, 50mm deep, 21mm internal and 27.9mm external

and it's topic viewtopic.php?f=113&t=131368&start=240
