I'd venture to say that there will be a very minimal weight penalty, if any, at all, given that the brakes on the current Madone are pretty hefty. I, for one, am pretty happy the bike will be more evolutionary than revolutionary. I think the current model was such a big step from anything that Trek had done, short of the SpeedConcept, that there wasn't much that could be done to make the current bike more aero. Plus, disc brakes are the new hot area, so leave the established frame, as-is, and just focus on incorporating disc brakes into it. Unfortunately, they didn't post any other photos with the bike in it, so I can't judge what the front will look like, but anything less than fully integrated brake lines will be a disappointment (my one gripe with the Domane/Emonda/Boone/Crockett disc brake setup).

This is the only photo I have of the new S5 disc, early ‘18 release. Not even a photo of the bike but it’s on its way.

Everyone could expect that Trek is gonna bring a Disc brake Modone in next year or so. But the question is will Trek continue with rim brake model or will they ditch it like Giant did with the New Propel?

the will just keep on making the existing madone9 along with the new one. I doubt any more resources will be allocated to obsolete rim brake tech in the near future.

The funny thing is that from the photos TFS is putting on Twitter, all of their riders are using disc brake bikes (Emondas and Domanes) unless they're riding the Madone. I would venture to say that the new Madone will probably make its "official" debut for the TdF, but I don't doubt we see Bauke Mollema riding one at the Criterium.

Not yet, but if you're in the market for one then you shouldn't have to wait too much longer. We'll see a prototype or maybe even release this year no doubt.
