To me I would go modern with a modern frame (even if the paint is retro). With a retro bike, then you can go retro or modern.
But that's just my opinion.
At the end do what you prefer. It is YOUR bike!

From Cyclerepublic.co.uk (so actually the shop everyone in the UK loves to hate, halfords) but you needed a UK address, and they curiously also allowed a 100 quid off voucher on an item already heavily discounted.

So thanks to the consensus here I went with Chorus.
German online shop carbon clinchers “BC-Flethcwerk”.
Great looking wheels, crappy name
7.3kgs. Will definitely change pedals, probably cages
(But for 10 euros they aren’t bad), and perhaps saddle
