PF30 to 24mm BB with removable bearings

Hi,

need a little help... looking for a PF30 conversion BB so I can use Dura Ace cranks. Since this will be a winter bike, I would like to exchange the bearings every spring... which BB do I go for?

- Praxxis - had it on my Crux, no problems or creaking, but apparently, you cannot remove the bearings without voiding warantee? I wonder why...

- Wheels manufacturing

- Some generic "spacer" conversion

- Rotor?

I believe you can change the bearings with Wheels Mfg PF30 Outboard BB http://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-brackets/pf ... ckets.html

The bearings in my hawk racing conversion bottom bracket pops out every time a remove the crank. So I guess the are removable :)

for pretty obvious reasons. nothing sinister.

How about Kogel. You can’t swap bearings, but I have 12,000 miles of all condition riding on mine and haven’t needed to swap them out. Plenty of rain and snow rides in the mix, and I will add it is in a ti frame. Should creak if anything is going to.

Yes, you can. And the BB is top notch; I have had zero issues with mine and it works like a charm.

I'll add one more to the list - Kogel Bearings PF30 to 24 ( https://www.kogel.cc/collections/press- ... o-cranks-1 ). The setup has no spacers whatsoever. I've had this on 2 bikes for 3 years and it's rock-solid. I'm sure that anyone else using Kogel will back me up on their quality. The cups themselves will press in hard and to get them out you'll have to hammer, so if you have internal wiring you wish to change, that's a bit of a pain. However, the bearings are essentially BB90 and come out of the cups with a special Enduro tool with zero violence involved. Even Kogel themselves recommend the process strictly for bearing maintenance, which sounds like what you want to have ( https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1473/ ... 3701735546 ).
This setup works very well.

removable bearings.. I know its cheap, and wont brake the bank, but still a good option for those cost-conscious

a bit weighty, though reliable is a thread-fit bb for the pf30 shells:

thank you for this information. Do I understand it correctly that the Enduro tools can be used to replace the bearings while the BB is still on the bike? From the documents, the BB is removed, which would defeat the purpose for me (removing and installing increases frame stress IMO).

Their online manual shows the bracket out of the bike when they remove the bearings, but it does not have to be. I have used that same enduro tool to gently push the bearings out while the brackets stay in the frame. You would need a standard bearing press to push the bearings back in, but the whole process is painless. Kogel also has excellent customer service and will respond to every mail and every question.

FSA have a permanent adapter sleeve. Went to shimano's bsa BB for the same reason.
Had the praxxis earlier and just replaced the enduro bearings.

I’ve recently installed one of the PF30 supplied by https://www.hambini.com/bike-parts/hamb ... acket.html. I’ve tried Praxis works, Wheels manufacturing and this is the best pf30 some distance. Hambini has set his company up in his spare time as an aeronautical engineer and his attention to detail is to be admired. He’s got a growing customer base globally and has been really supportive when I’ve asked him questions. Drop him an email. He’s also a member of this forum.

I'll throw in my 2¢ as another suggestion for Wheels Mfg. Not sure what bike it will be going in, but I found install and removal of the Wheels BBs to be pretty quick, easy and painless. I've installed their BBs in two of my bikes, a '15 Giant Propel and an '18 Allez Sprint. I did have to press in one side on the Propel (non-drive I think) and then thread it together, but it went in really easy and came out even easier. On the Allez, there was nothing to it. It just pushed right in by hand and then threaded together and tightened it up. On top of that if you go with the angle bearings, those things are very smooth. I've been very happy with both of them.

You said you'd be exchanging the bearings every spring, does that mean you'd be swapping it back to BB30, or moving it to another bike? If you're going to be going back and forth between the DA and a BB30 crank twice a year, I'd just buy two of the Wheels BBs and keep them with the cranks.
