I have lots of carbon and I love it, but I have a certain fondness for alloy. I am currently working on a build to showcase some of the best (in my opinion) of metal components. My goal is a balanced build that is suitable for hard training and racing and represents several manufacturers. Of course, weight is a consideration and the goal weight is 6.35kg (14 lbs) with powertap.

It is mostly done, but I need some input. Here is the build list so far from things I currently own. Non-alloy parts will include an enve 2.0 fork and Tune speedneedle since there are no suitable fork and saddle alloy components.

Frame: Custom 6061
Brakes: KCNC CB3
Stem: Extralite Hyperstem (wish I could get my hands on a Wert straight shooter)
Bar: Cinneli Dinamo [tuned]
Headset: Extralite Ultratop/Bottom
Post: Thomson Masterpiece [tuned clamp]
Clamp: KCNC SC9 (or Mt. Zoom)
Rims: Stans Alpha 340
Front Hub: Tune Mig 70
Rear Hub: Powertap G3
Front Der: Sram Force
Rear Der: Sram Force
Shifters: Sram Force
Rings: BOR 53/39

Here's what is up for debate:

Crankset: ?
BB: ?

I own the KCNC RD-1 with K-Type BB. It is reliable and has decent weight, but I'm willing to budge.

Just for fun. Anyone know of a real light alloy bottle cage?

I have a cheap one from Ibera I picked up on Amazon that is 20g. It might be a candidate for some drilling.

I also have a cageless bottle from Fabric (3g?) but it is not very useable (hint: I used to have two such bottles).
