I am planing to get soon a BMC Teammachine SLR01 Disc Team as my rain bike:

(the pics above are a 51cm frame with DT Swiss 35mm wheels)

The Teammachine frameset will be equipped with the new Dura Ace Di2 hydraulic R9170 (this bike will be my rain bike), and the Pro Vibe Aero carbon handlebar (stem and seat post are BMC).

:arrow: In terms of wheels, I am thinking of getting the Shimano C60 (or C40) wheels but I am still debating which wheels I should get for the BMC (Size 51cm) in terms of aesthetics (in terms of performances I can ride 35mm to 60mm over here as it not hilly and w/o too much crosswinds).

:?: What do you think fits the best to the BMC with its big down tube and in my size 51cm? 35mm, 60mm? DT Swiss? Shimano?

- DT Swiss PRC 1400 Spline db 35mm:

Pro: "swiss made", matching the swiss BMC frame; light: 1434g
Cons: expensive, maybe too "low profile" for the BMC with the big down tube. I have to admit that I love the 50mm profile of my Bora on my C60.

- DT Swiss PRC 1400 Spline db 65mm:

Pro: "swiss made", matching the swiss BMC frame; not that light: 1669g
Cons: expensive, maybe too "high profile" for my size 51cm

Cons: "too" Italian for the swiss bike (better on my C60).

Cons: Quality of the hubs.

My thoughts exactly.

I would probably choose whichever set has the easiest hubs to service. I don’t worry about aesthetics in a rain bike, only visibility.

I have the Enve 3.4 and love them. I have always been a fan of the 240 hubs. I ride in windy conditions so I appreciate the lower front rim. I got them used, ridden them through winter too on roads with salt and on really bad roads. Jumped off curbs. They are still in great shape.

Btw great choice on the bike. Cool it already has the DM for the rear derailleur too.

Can you mount fenders on that thing? I don't believe it has any mounts and the fork is not drilled is it? One of my favorite bikes thought. :thumbup:

Well only clip-on fenders like the SKS Raceblade. No full fenders/ mudguards (for that you have to look at the BMC Roadmachine02 and 03, ad they have hidden mounts for the full fenders)

Well if your plan is to ride on your own than of course it doesn't matter that much. Obviously if you ride in groups you may want to re-think your choice. Even if you do always ride on your own when the roads are wet, there is something really nice about stopping all water that is coming off your wheels from hitting you or parts of your bike. Only full fenders will do that.

The plan is to keep it for the next 20 years, like my last bikes

Where I live now (PNW) it is unfortunately quite rainy but I want to have a very nice bike also when the weather is not that sunny and dry.

Will have to save money somewhere else

I love this red colour of the BMC Team (and the red of the Trek factory team) and it is indeed a good colour in terms of visibility when the sky is cloudy and rainy.

I too am waiting for my SLR01 non disc in 47cm and is due to arrive early November. Etap group with Mavic SSC R-sys wheels. Can’t wait to see your build.

I've just ordered a set of Wheelworks AR discs, 35mm front 50mm rear for my disc brake bike. DT Swiss 240 hubs, under 1500g and a lifetime guarantee, able to personalise colours decals etc. Granted from the antipodes so no chance for you to test

I'll post photos when they arrive

Yes! For the group rides in the winter and the full rainy rides I will have soon a BMC Roadmachine02 with full fenders & mudguards. Definitely the best... :thumbup:

If I am riding alone and it is only showers or a very light rain for 1-2 hours out of 4-5 hours then I will go with the Teammachine.
