Ultegra 6870 v 8050 - differences

are there any real world differences people have experienced with the newer R8050 or R9150 when compared the previous versions (assuming the older versions have upgraded firmware for syn shifting).

they look nicer i guess, but other than that I cannot find any real differences.. so if you guys have any info, would be appreciated.

without google search just from my memory - new shifters are considerably lighter (at least disc di2 version, it somewhere about 150g difference), they have 2 buttons at the top of the shifters (you can use them for controlling your garmin for example) and the SS rear derailleur can do 11-30 cassette (older only 11-28). It is more optimised for shorter chainstays but in reality i think this won´t be any significant gain on most frames. But it may affect your component choice as old front derailleur is officially not compatible with new cranks (though Froome used it on his oval chainrings). New derailleur has adopted shadow design from mtb, which protects the derailleur, but some people report it is a bit noisier.

yes, should have been more specific, only wanted an opinion on front and rear mech... as im using TT shifters...

the best part about the 8000 series is the introduction of an affordable 11-30 cassette
