I was tidying the bike corner of the garage & found various inner tubes.
I bought them when they were on special and paid about $5:00 (NZ$).
The Difference in weight is as much as 47 grams which can mean a significant weight saving per dollar.

Does the reduction in weight increase the risk of a flat? I'm guessing it must.

In my experience, no.

Lighter tubes are easier to damage during mounting though.

I am tending to use the Conti Supersonics - a bit pricey though....

In my experience if you pick up a thorn, metal shard or piece of glass it will just take a few extra kms to puncture vs a thinner tube. I would have thought that a thicker tube would slightly reduce the risk of pinch-flatting.
