The lightest power meter is the quarq dfour?
Moderator: robbosmans
I have a bike with ultegra 6800 crankset and central BSA movement, the weight of the crankset is 765 gr. What is the absolute light weight meter I could fit? I am concerned only with bilateral power meters . I would have thought to take the quarq dfour, according to my calculations the overall weight should be the following:
588gr (quarq four with crankset) + 144 (crown weight 50-34 ultegra) + 90gr (sram central movement weight) = 822gr , the weight of the bike would increase by about 60gr.
Can you tell me if the calculations are correct?

Honestly i would focus on reliability rather than weight. p2m s-type is rock solid. 3d24 is same BB as you have already.
Why is the quarq dfour not durable? The weight of the 800gr power2max rotor also includes the center movement?

The new quarq reliability seems to be better than the previous generations, but historically they have been super failure prone. When I was working in a shop we warrantied more quarqs than anything by a wide margin, and they weren't what we sold the most of.
Stages is probably the lightest & cheapest. Which is why I have one.
I've been looking strongly at 4iiii. Decently cheap and pretty light, worth checking out at least

Definitely this. I have a P2M Type-S and not a single issue with it, despite near daily riding for over a year now in all conditions. Weight of a power meter is obviously something to consider, but like jeffy here says, reliability really is the only thing you should ever worry about. A power meter that becomes an integral part of your bike, such as a chainring / spider integrated on like Quarq, SRM, P2M, etc. is a massive pain in the arse to send back for warranty, so get something that has real world use by real people and a history of not failing. Any hint of it being even slightly fail-prone, honestly I reckon you need to avoid like the plague.
You can minimise the pain having a spare spider for your crank. If you would have to send your PM for warranty you could still ride.
Having said that, my P2M S is performing with no problems for two and a half years.

you still don't have a power meter for any warranty turnaround time..
You can wait for the Stages Dual Sided Power Meter, but who knows when its going to be out.

Or....
You can go with 4iiii - adds only 25 grams to a Shimano crank.

Exactly, which means you can't ride until it gets fixed. Hell on earth.

Best LH crank arm PM on the market, hands down.
