3T Strada aero road bike is made for wide tires and 1×12 drivetrains
Moderator: robbosmans
Even the aeroad can fit 28mm GP4000S2 nominal width .. lot of space in the fork
and a little less at the back but not as bad as the strada ...
If there is not space to fit the 28 mm GP400S2 nominal width without scratching the the crown of the fork
where does the air go ? You need space there a little
It seems to me they went to fast in production ...
Shoulda have done more prototypes versions ....
Never heard anything from 3T guys about the poor efficiency of a 9 teeth sprocket ...
The pros if they run 1X , are gonna be dead in stages like on the last Vuelta ...
When you need 52 53/11 for the flat
and 34/32 for the climb if you don't play the victory ...

Really, what's the frameset weight then?
Any clue on the actual weight @cwdzoot?

I thought there would be new eTap WiFLi RD with clutch... or skip it totally and go for 1x12 eTap WiFli Clutch?

Larry came by my office and we got to do a short test ride on the bike. All agreed it's an awesome bike and it's fast no matter the 1 x drivetrain
It's not specially light but the larger tires and the disc brake set up was pretty awesome.

I know it isn't popular here but it's the sum of the parts that makes the whole. Light has so little impact on performance, you've discovered that on one test ride. The torsional stiffness afforded by specific layup and analysis that includes the thru axle inclusion (not a remolded quick release rim brake version) along with the wider tires that provide less rolling resistance and shapes that provide less rolling resistance make for a fast bike. The fact it is 7kg instead of 6kg like some of its round tube, rim brake ancestors does not reduce the performance.
The bike Larry is riding is one of our test mules. We raced on it for a few weeks before we sent it off to Larry and the bike was improved since this early sample. In the next few months you'll begin to see far more options come to light and in the wake of those introductions, dozens of other companies creating 1x specific bikes that are optimized.

Hi Dave,
Rode one of the demo bikes for a few weeks and really enjoyed it. Was curious what was improved on the production frame?
Also noticed some disk rubbing due to the very limited allowance the SRAM brakes have in conjunction with the flex of the wheel. Will that also be addressed?
Thanks.

Mostly small refinement of layup and finish. Updates on hardware fit and component interface. Rotor rub was not evident on any of the demo fleet but alignment of the caliper is crucial and set up bit trickier with flat mount. The flex in the system is much more in the fork than the wheel. The thin fork blades coupled with the requirement of a high piston position on the flat mount caliper introduces more potential for any movement contacting the rotor. For hub deflection (rotor face surface non-parallel to brake caliper mount) to cause rub there would need to be an alignment issue from the start - or a conventional ~5mm steel/ti quick release.
