considering doing this as well but cant be stuffed with doing the hoses again.

has anyone actually weighed a XTR M9000 caliper?

my RS-785 caliper comes in at 110g a side and the RS-805 is 111g a side

Very interesting. I agree that my R785 levers + RS785 calipers + BH59 hoses are a bit more squishy than I'd prefer. Shimano customer support recommended this, and it's reinforced in their literature:

Not sure where I had read about Shimano advocating BH90 hoses over BH59 for road applications (might have been a previous WW disc brake thread_), but I do find it interesting that the 9150 Di2 dealer manual references BH90, not BH59.

Can the BH90 hose be retrofitted onto a 685/785 lever/caliper set without changing anything else? It has the same inner and outer diameter and takes the same olives? My bike currently has the BH59 hose and I'd love a firmer brake lever feel.

R785 + SLX calipers + BH90 hoses
works fine

ms6073, new dura ace hydro recomends bh90, because it's better
it's like they are using better shifting cables in d-a groupset vs other groupset, and they don't want you to know that you can improve shifting buying just cable

it's hard to buy xtr caliper without brake lever

Just checked my notes re the weights of the different calipers and pads

Zee Caliper (bare) : 127g ea
Shimano pads, springs & split pin : 24g (set - unfinned)
Uberbike pads, springs & split pin : 23g (set)

RS785 caliper & Bleed block : 117g
Shimano finned resin pads + springs : 21g (set)

Difference between Zee vs RS785 : 151g vs 138g per axle

The RS685 levers were 325g ea

So, does this translate to BH-59 for modulation and BH-90 for more bang on braking?
I would easily go for modulation. When i rode MTB it was rim brakes and the disc brakes we have now, is already great.
I wonder, is any 4 piston brake only made for more braking power (compared to 2 piston ditos)?

Seems more pistons could be cause for more problems to.

A pity XTR 9000 isn't available with straight connection ala RS 785.
I was told no matter what caliper we go for, distance between pads and discs will not increase?
If so, that's a bummer...

has anyone used mixed rotor sizes on their road bikes? 160 front and 140 rears? or since i'm 150 lbs, 140 is adequate for front and rear?

i'm setting up a new bike...and going with disc brakes so i can ride more in bad weather. had a few close calls and one crash with rim brakes.

2007 xtr uses straight connector (2 versions: pm, is), weight IS≈80g, PM≈84g

I've had 160/140 on my bike and I'm 95kg and like climbing and descending (a bit slow at the climbing part ... :roll: ).

Just started testing a Vitus Vitesse EVO disc bike at the moment and that has 140/140 with RT86 IceTech rotors.

At 150lb, shouldn't be an issue, but as mentioned, depends where/how you ride
