I just ordered the new Easton EC90sl crankset in mid compact double form, 172.5 length. I wanted a light crankset with the option of adding power and that is lighter than a dura ace crank and maybe more cost effective on a $/gram basis. I should get it this week and will update this thread with verified weights for the 2x setup and an overall review of the crank. I can't waitImage

So who are the best suppliers for the spiders ?

Presume that the Specialised spider does not fit ?

I ordered the stock Easton spider. I might have chain line issues cause it's designed for 142OLD bikes but we'll see. I'm running di2 so I can probably sort them out if they do exist.

Let us know how it works out. If I was in the market for a new crank I'd definitely be considering this one. (I have a Rotor 3D+)

IIRC, its based on the same tech used in RaceFace's mountain cranks which has been well reviewed.

I just pulled the trigger on this crank with a single chainring for my roadbike. I have received it and the manufacturer claimed weights were not exagrated. Actually a few grams lighter for the crankset, but I have 170mm crankarms. And the BSA BB was 3-4g lighter than adverticed.

I have mounted the crank and riden it a couple of times and so far so good. My only complain is that there is a 4-5mm preload ring on the inside of the left crankarm which make the transition from crankarm to bb not so elegant.

oh and a little question. The cranks came with small washer where you mount the pedals. Are theese washers nessesarry (my old campy cranks didn't come with any)? My pedals are with ti-spindles if that makes a difference.

@zak that's awesome to hear. I'm running a kogel bb so that's a step above the race face/Easton version and I love love love the kogel design. As for the preload ring I run a campagnolo comp ultra on my other road bike so I'm no stranger to weird expanding rings on the NDS. I don't know about the washers for the pedals. I like as narrow a q factor as I can get so I avoid washer like that whenever I can. Also, I run ti spindle look keos so we'll see when I get it.

@ab01ns: Thanks for the quick reply. My reason to mention the washers, was that I want to avoid them as I also prefer a narrow q-factor.

I'm not sure you can avoid the preloadring on the inside of the left crankarm as it is a part of the crank and not the BB, but please keep us updated on that when you get your crank.

What I meant is that I'm totally cool with the look of the preload ring on the NDS

I googled the instructions. Says "use pedal washer" with a red exclamation mark.

Pedal washers extend the fatigue life of the crank's alloy threaded insert.

If the pedal spindle is smaller in diameter than the recessed area of the crank arm then I don't think it's necessary. Speaking for Sram cranks but would probably apply more generally as well.
