Hello,
Im looking to buy a new set of handlebars and a stem. Initially I would have liked to keep the weight to a minimum, however I'm starting to read that superlight bars and stems are not ideal as they can flex whilst climbing out of the saddle.
Is there any truth to this? Im not a powerful sprinter at all, I'm only 64.5kg and prefer climbs.
And can you recommend a good compromise between weight and stiffness? I've noticed that Deda sell some 35mm Superleggera bars, I suppose this size is to keep them stiff? But does a bike look odd with such oversized bars ?
Thanks for any advice.
Bars and stem - stiffness versus weight.
