Hi guys, what brands have their cleat holes far forward? I have Giro Empires now, but my cleats should be 1,7cm more forward in size 40. The distance from the heel to first hole should be 17cm. Can anyone please help? I'm considering custom drilled Bont or Gaerne or S-Phyre?

17mm further on a size 40? That'd be close to putting the cleats under your toes on most shoes wouldn't it?

On high end Shimano they use this system :

I just did a rough measurement and 17cm heel to bottom holes on a size 40 (about 25cm long) would put the forward cleat nut under the top of the middle toe.

I agree that that sounds a lot - I have the opposite problem and need them further back. I use Bont shoes at the moment and I posted pictures in the big Bont thread a few months ago of when I drilled new holes - really easy.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

How are you determining this?

I used to do ball of the foot over the pedal axel but now I'm using the steve hogg method which puts the ball in front of the axel. I like it much better:

Go custom.

I have two pair of Riivo shoes. I'm very happy with them. I know someone who has a pair that he had drilled mid-foot.

Geriatric thread alert!
FWIW My b'twin 900 shoes seem to have the cleat pretty far forward, though they're a bit big cos I just got them.

Get some flat pedals wear runners and see where you like your feet on the spindlle. Start from there and tune accordingly.
