Thanks for all the responses guys
My original question was more about cheaper options vs swissstop but the performance comparisons amongst swisstop pads are equally interesting

Specifically I was looking at the 'koolstop' range but am open to suggestions from anyone who can compare swisstop/Zipp pads with other offerings. I'm a little weary of using a pad that isn't well recommended as I don't want to damage the brake track and obv want good performance. I'm happy enough with the 'black prince' pads but will also try the others that have been recommended to see if they're even better.
I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on the koolstop pads as they're so much cheaper. So if they offer similar performance then all good.
No experience of the Koolstop range, but can recommend the Wiggle Lifeline carbon pads. Brilliant and such good value for money.

I was worried they were a bit to hard/harsh on the rim when I tried them. Might be paranoid?

They turn brown if they get warm. I was thinking they were Cryo's.

I suspect the maybe old Reynolds cryo design. The newer design has a larger surface area. The material appear to the the same. I've not experienced the brown (burning?) of the pads, but the grooves quickly fill up with grayed pad material. Wear rate is high, however they are cheap and they appear to be sacrificial to the rims, I am prepared to accept that I will have to replace regularly.
I should add that I am using them on 2015 Reynolds Assaults and 2017 Light bike 28mm carbon rims.

This was on Zipps. May have just been old pad material off the rim.

Hi Nefarious, are you saying the Zipp Tangente Evo Pro are better than BP? How to they perform in wet conditions, did you have a chance to try? I used BPs and was very happy till it rained and must have turned a serious amount of hair into grey one...
