that's why I don't use magnets.... a load of clearances on my bike are fairly tight... would rather use the estimated, its never that far away.goodboyr wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2017 8:51 pmUntil it comes off, sticks to your chain then rips your Rd off the dropout into your rear wheel.............Philbar72 wrote:its not.rasmusic wrote:Yeah, I bet the magnet is to measure cadence. I had the chance to inspect this power meter first hand on the bike of a Sunweb-rider last week, and he had the same magnet. But I can't see why a magnet is a downside.

Not a shock considering it’s price, the fact that it was announced over a year ago and is only now trickling out, no BLE data enabled yet, and (really) a magnet?? I’m sure th next version will be great, but there are great power meters available now from many brands for much less money.
Got one on the way but that review begs the question, is the preload adjuster tool included with the powermeter?

Not sure I understand the problem but then again, I never had any issues with our SRM's requiring magnets for cadence.
Why is left/right balance such a show stopper? Polar had this feature when the company introduced the Polar CS600 with Power ~12-years ago and nobody even blinked an eye! Now that we have several pedal based powermeters marketing left/right balance metrics. Now everyone is up in arms about the R9100-P's discrepancies, but aside from proper fit and checking for leg length discrepancies, I have yet to see anyone offer a definitive method for addressing said imbalances.Shimano’s R9100-P, on my very first test, tracked within a single watt on average compared to the Vector 3s. And it proved to align so well in further testing with PowerTap and other trusted meters that I used it with the Vectors to test a slew of smart trainers.
But there was a catch — the left/right balance was slightly off; the ride averages were around 55/45 instead of my usual 50/50 to 52/48. Shimano initially blamed firmware. An update did not rectify that.

I've been riding my R9100-P with Garmin 520 for little over 2 months. So far my worst L-R average/ride is 52/48 but mostly 50/50. Since my last powermeter is a SRM so I have nothing to benchmark these L-R numbers. However I've been very proud of pedaling 50/50 most of the time. Perhaps Bike Radar had a defected unit?
