Wonder if it would be wiser to spend the money on a discounted xr2...

A pity. I'd rather have an XR4 without CV.

Yeah, make the frame even lighter. Would ride. Bet if they pull CV from the XR4 frame no-one would even notice it.

Should release it in that red and black colour way for kicks :P

Not sure Italian bike companies have a sense of humour outside of pre-1980 sexual innuendo though.

Countervail works mate. Try riding an XR4 and you'll know.

I've ridden the XR4. Wonderful bike, much preferable to the XR2. But feeling the difference between CV and not I'm not sure I would. Maybe down the last alpine descent on choppy asphalt on a 7 hour day.

Have an Infinito CV.

Still don't know it works. Would need the same frame without CV to have a clue.

The effects of CV dont feel as bold as the marketing claims behind it, however, the XR4 does have a relatively unique ride quality - very stiff yet slightly muted, supple and very comfortable; hard bumps dont feel as hard and high frequency vibration just isnt transmitted as well to the contact points. The key novel feature of the XR4 (vs. the XR2) really is the incorporation of countervail, so it makes sense that it contributes at least some part of that unique ride quality.

Anyway, I've owned and ridden quite a few bikes now and I am confident in my claim that theres something different about the XR4 which makes it awesome. That difference, among other things, is probably due to countervail.

Shrike, if you've only ridden a CV how would you know what contribution it makes? You dont have anything to contrast it against.

Not sure what you mean. I've not 'only ridden a CV'. Where did you get that idea?

The point is - you can only get an idea if CV works, if you can ride exactly the same frame, one with and one without, CV.

You can't compare a CV XR4 to a non CV XR2, for example. That's irrational nonsense that you can only get away with seemingly in the bike industry.

The Infinito CV is a comfortable ride, with 25s and under 90PSI. It's a brutal ride on my rough roads, over 100 PSI. Jarring actually. My S5 is just the same, it doesn't have CV in it but with the 25s on it's a muted ride too. Again, that's not a direct comparison though. Different layups, geometry etc.
