I recently purchased (and started tuning) an old SRAM Red rear derailleur. I found that when installed that pivots had too much play and the shifting was crap. I want to attempt to replicate the amazing tuning done by several users on lightbikes (google "dura ace derailleur tuning"). Here's what I plan to do: tune the body more now that it is apart, redrill holes and replace pins with aluminum or carbon, replace all screws with delrin or nylon, redesign the cage, anodize the whole thing black. Probably a bit ambitious, but if I put my mind to it, I can make it happen. I'll add pictures from my phone in few minutes.
