Berk Lupine, Ax Lightness Leaf II. .
Moderator: robbosmans
I agree .. for me I can use nearly any saddle for 2/3 hours. 4/5 is another story. I use a leaf covered in leather .. and can do 5/6+ hours

Got the Berk Lupina on my Cinelli (wide version, padded). A very comfortable saddle. Possibly the most comfortable one I own.
Cinelli Saetta 6.5kg - nice and dry weather
Reilly T325 7.3kg - nice weather but windy
Spa Audax 9.1kg - all weather steel beauty
Pinnacle Dolomite 7.9kg - flat-pedal chainguard thing

Does the leather covering really make all that much difference in terms of comfort? I was leaning towards the Leaf Plus because it has some leather on the rear while still exposing the carbon.
sp3000 wrote:It really comes down to how well the shape ends up fitting you. That said given the ride quality of the F8 I'd be taking something with some padding for anything more than a couple of hours.
The flat profile and the width is quite in line with the saddles I use now. A specialized Romin and the Selle Italia Novus Flow S but they both weigh over 200g.
The S-Works Romin costs as much as a Leaf, but I find the AXL much more attractive... aesthetically -- which is half of what this bike is about for me.
I guess the F8 is a rather harsh bike... the Leaf would only amplify those tendencies. : (

Thanks SP3K, I'll go with your recommendation with the Leaf II : )!

What dealer did you purchase the saddle from? I'm trying to find one that ships to USA and the main AX Lightness website isn't quite working for me.

Mine weighs in at a pretty consistent 85g.
Seat's good but keeps coming loose.
What's the recommended torque settings on a carbon rail? The bottom of the Pinarello F8 seatposts suggests 8Nm but I'm not sure if that applies to carbon.
At the moment my seatpost is lined with electrical tape.
Should I use loctite in the seat clamp bolts?
I also have Carbon-Aluminum Friction Compound.

Ordered a Lupina in leather about 3 weeks ago from Starbike. It was delivered to my office today (that way my wife never quite knows what "bike crap" i've bought), but I wasn't there and now I'm headed to the UK for 5 days so I won't ride it for another week. I've been on Romin Pro in a 155 for quite a while now, but was looking to try something new as Specialized changes the length in its latest redesign. Will report back.

I have both of them and love them both. No need to get the leather cover versions. They are very comfortable and flex just enough for comfort but not enough to the point where you think your losing power.
