Seems like great news for carbon fiber products, just hope it translates into cheaper frames for consumers!

Actually carbon fiber + resins aren't very expensive. Of course there are more expensive fibers (E.g. HM, UHM type carbon) but the frames are mostly made using regular CF.
What costs is R&D, molds and handwork (and marketing (..and brand..))

Some of the super resins are a cost factor. Cervelo said so when they added it to places in the 1st RCA.

This. Title of thread is incorrect IMHO, costs certainly will not crash.

From the article:
Only a handful of companies around the world can create carbon fibre, each using their own secret recipe.

To join this elite club CSIRO and Deakin researchers had to crack the code.

They aren't talking about resins, or the final product, just the carbon thread/tow. Their equivalent would be Toray etc.

Yes but anything without graphene in it will be worthless trash not worth risking your life on, shortly.

And anything from china or taiwan will slit your throat, steal all your money and then fail catastrophically, taking out a large area of the surrounding countryside.

Or something

Once had a customer come in with electrical tape on the spokes of his Mavic CCU's; so as to protect them from "harmful UV rays".
