*ultegra.... auto correct

Just built the bike yesterday and it is UN RIDEABLE today. They naturally raise just sitting there and rotate and squirm in your hand! completely useless! Not just irritating but SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS. everything is installed correctly, they just seem like they came out of the mold 5-10% too large for the actual brake/shifters. Ive searched all morning after my hairy ride this AM and it seems like LOTS of people have this problem however I have not found a solution yet!??!?!

Please assist!

Clean hoods and levers with isopropyl alcohol and learn to bleed the brakes without having such a mess.

There was a batch of these that went out with sloppy fitting hoods. Have your dealer call up their Shimano rep and getting a replacement pair of hoods should be a simply warranty issue.

I have something similar with 785, one of fixing points is getting out, but hoods remains still and usable
discussion link on other forum confirms problem

Y07X98080 - hoods from ST-RS685 ($10 on universalcycles)

for a newer ST-RS505 and ST-RS405 shimano even moved bleeding port closer to band clamp so you dont have to uncover hoods
interesting where will be bleeding port on new dura-ace hydraulics ST-R9170 and ST-R9120

I had the same problem last year, but since I bought the hoods second-hand, I just ponied up and bought a new set of replacement hoods. I rode all CX season this year with the new hoods and didn't have a problem.

Have not had the problem with mine at all.

That is despite spilling some oil when installing/bleeding them.

Now, my bar tape wrapping is a different story .... :|
