Campagnolo UT-BB130 Ultra-Torque Cup Tool
Moderator: robbosmans
I'm wondering what your experiences are using this tool to fit UT cups.
Mine seems quite a loose fit and it leaves marks where the splines locate. Wasn't too bothered when fitting Record cups to my winter training bike but I wanted a good finish when fitting SR cups.
I initially tried electrical tape but that just cracked so tried masking tape. Two rounds of it gives a good fit and left minimal marks. BTW I'm also holding the tool in place with a thread rod.

I place a paper towel between the cup and the tool. No marks and a tight fit.
For a high precision BB tool:
Look at Wolftoothcomponents, Abbey tools or Real World Cycling

Thanks for the replies chaps.
Valbrona, is there actually a UT specific tool? I know there's one for Campag square taper.
Great minds etc!
So it confirms I haven't got a duffer and the loose fit seems to be intentional.
Icetoolz have got a good rep.
The quality / function of the Campag tool does seem strange as Campag tools are if anything over engineered.
Thanks, they look like good quality tools. Obviously I've got a workaround that performs well enough but I'll save them for future reference.

The Tacx is standard external BB fitment: https://tacx.com/product/bottom-bracket-cup-tool/
But you will realize that is not as expected when you get one. The plastic insert doesn't fit fully over the cup like the other wrench-type tools, but being plastic is does not mark cups.
