I suspect that saddle design plays a bigger role than rail material when it comes to comfort, and that may play into some of the contradictory opinions posted here. You can mitigate the flex (or lack thereof) of the rails by the engineering of how the rails attach to the saddle itself, and the flex of the saddle shell.
I have been using a Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio for years and have not found it to be harsh at all.
Shrike, does your Aspide have carbon or Ti rails? PM me before you put it on eBay.
