Dye-ing tubulars

I have a set of corsa g+ tubulars but think the sidewall is more pale than i would like. Has anyone dyed tubular sidewalls to a darker tan or black and if so how did you do it. I tealise how stupid this sounds.

Francois Boyaux told me that to keep his brand of gumwall tyres clean a water based varnish could be applied to the sidewalls. Taking his word as gospel and extrapolating that concept why not use a water based tinted varnish to alter the gumwall appearance?

BTW am yet to try this myself - have to wear out my current FMBs first.......

LOL, don't ever try to call a tubular a 'pneu' in France, it's a crime against cycling! It's a boyau, and nothing to do with a pneu (clincher!)

i tried it on one of those with a (black) spirit marker, it was a bad idea

especially once i decided they look better in their natural state, after a few wet rides they'll pick up enough grime to darken them

btw if this is the first time you've mounted these, put a LOT of tension/pressure on the valve stem area, the first time i did it i ended up with a slight 'tick' each revolution as the bulge at the stem caused the glue to lift, in the end had to take them off and re-glue

isn't casing of FMB/Dugast different than Vittoria ?

I know my FMB Paris Roubaix 25mm have both the 320tpi Vittoria cotton casing and Vittoria SC Corsa tread on them.

Can't say where my FMB silk casings come from.
