Bolts way to tight, and eventually post broke at hole.

Custom paint on it will suck to replace :( Like someone else said though at least it didn't break while riding.... beautiful "office" by the way.

Thanks!

Yeah. It's the paint that's gonna be a pain. The Cappy $100 or so. Paint's gonna get me.

I'm always amazed at people's ability to see torque at a distance through a computer screen.

Entirely possible, though I've grilled the possible subjects. The littlest child, who, let's be honest, lies just to lie, has a rock-solid alibi.

It's Santa. He fancied a go on the bike, but he's too heavy. He didn't have a spare seatpost on him either. He did leave a plate of cookies as compensation but the dog ate them all.

Definitely the Dragon-in-law is chief suspect.

Please don't tell me you will get an identical cap to replace the broken one. There has to be a better alternative. I think this is a design problem and not a user problem.

Well, there's where I'm in kind of a pickle. The bike was made to fit that topper. It actually slides on (fully-seated) to exactly my saddle height with an Arione 00. Anything else and that unbroken red ISP is gonna be, well, broken by a ring of raw carbon.

I know, I know, but I had it built this way in part because I like the aesthetics.

I *could* cut the ISP and go to a "normal" seatpost...

It's always the dog in the end.

Check out this clamp. It has an interesting red insert that perhaps reduces the stress at the bolt. I have some Woodman components and their quality is top notch.

The only thing the red insert does is to give the screw head a flat surface to lie against even when the clamp is at an angle. The most likely issue is that the aluminium is the hardest, most brittle type, to save weight and the ear used for clamping the saddle is overstressed. This then leads to fatigue of the material and cracking.
