Family Budget 5700 10 Speed to 11 Speed questions

First off wold like to say thank you to any contributors to the topic.

Simple question, I want 11 speed, does 5800 and or 6800 11 speed compatible with my current parts, I'm assuming not, and what parts do I need to buy to make it work?
Below is details about what I'm attempting to do if it matters...

I raced 1/2 a season this year, my first year racing and putting in training for a full race season for this coming season. I want to get better, I won races in 4/5 and came close in a few 3/4 but looking to get to 3 before 1/2 through the year so I can get used to racing with the Pros, Elites and other 2, 3s.. now that you have my goals and intent this coming season...

I live on flat part of the USA of Texas so I'm looking for Capable gearing of 11-23 to 11-28 for hilly road races. I run a 53/39 5700 10 speed and was going to overhaul to ultegra but decided on getting out of car payment debt is more important so looking to do it on a budget and I don't see 3/4 a lb worth the full upgrade at an amateur level.

Biggest issue, as in the most expensive single part is probably the rear wheel.
Need to see if your current wheel is 11 speed compatible.

Rest of it, you'll need Fr and Rr mech, shifters, chain, cassette. Which i guess you'd already budgeted for.

Existing brakes will work, chainset will work. They might not be "perfect" but very much good enough.

And TBH, going from 10 to 11 won't actually give you any noticeable improvement.

Perhaps you don't have to change your FD, I made a 10 to 11spd conversion on my CX bike and only replaced the shifters, RD, chain, cassette and removed the spacer from my wheelset which was already 11spd compatible.
What wheelset do you have?

Thought the 11 speed front mech used those long actuation arms?
They still compatible with 10 speed shifters?

Yes, I only had to adjust the limit screws, it doesn't fit 100% but it works

IMHO You'd be better off getting a lighter aero wheelset and helmet, lighter shoes, pedals unless you already have those?

Thank you for the help so far I'm hearing that required are
Shifters, Cassette, cables, Rear mech and chain. And at a later date front mech.

So will the 5700 work with ultegra 6800 11spd or only 5800 105 11 speed?

Understandably, I worked hard and got a lot of OT and was going to treat myself to new rims and groupset but decided to save some money and get myself 11 speed through a few parts, get a Wheelset

I upgraded my Synapse with 5700 to Ultegra 6700 and then to Ultegra 6800 (taken from my CAAD12). I used the 6700 FD since 6800 was a braze on.

My wheelset would only accept a 10s cassette and would cost more to upgrade it so I ended up using CS-6800 but with one less cog.

This - if the local terrain is fairly flat you don't need a wider gear range spread so it's hard to see what performance gain is to be had from your proposed spend

I understand prefectly that a 10 to 11 speed doesn't necessarily equate to more success... that doesn't answer my question of using Shimano 105 5700 crankset with ultegra 6800 cables, chain, Cassette, rear mech, and Shifters?

I ask because if the difference is only 100 between ultegra 6800 parts and 105 5800 parts then I'll just do ultegra 6800...

I need new cables, new cassette, and chain, hence the reason for looking to move to 11spd as well. If I need all 3 what's an extra 200 for Shifters and rear mech...

Thats the same thing i did, training bike needed almost a complete groupset (probably 10 speed 105, upgrade from ancient 9 speed mishmash), race bike had an ok group on it (10 speed 105, 3 years old), so i bought 11 speed ultegra for about €125-130 more and did the groupset shuffle.

And the 5700 crank will work with 11 speed ultegra.
