From Evo 386 BB to other BB option weight penalty?

you can go to anything with a 90mm spacing. Basically BB30/PF30 cranks will not fit.
You are stuck with Shimano/SRAM/FSA. You'll need to get a downsizing adaptor to make it work. 30 to 24mm

OP means they have a BB386Evo fame and is considering using a non 386 crank because there are more options. Hence OP would need an adapter in the BB for the non 30mm spindle crank to fit.
Then OP asks if/how much of a weight penalty there is for using a BB adapter, and if the pros/cons of using an adapter are worth it.
FWIW, I have an FSA SLK compact crank on my BB386Evo frame, however it is the older, 5 bolt, 110bcd crank. OP could also look into Rotor cranks as they produce some options with a 386 size spindle.

I am currently using FSA K-Force Light BB386 53/39 crank. I am looking into switching over to compact crank since I don't race and not looking to set land speed record on descent. :p
Bike currently set up with Force 22, rider weight well under 180lb and doesn't have a thick wallet. :p

Why not change to 50/34 or 50/36 chainrings?
I also have same crank and it's not a problem (the later version of this crank).
Or you can also use Shimano DA 9000 or UL 6800 crank.
I have the latter on my gravel bike (also BB 386 EVO).
If you use Rotor 4624 BB right you need not use any spacer.

If you wonder why BB Right, well, this BB was developed with Cervelo, therefore the name.
But it fits perfectly in a BB386EVO frame.
Off topic, but if you use Shimano cranks, you can also use TA Specialities Shimano chainrings.
This allow you to go as compact as 42/33.

Just buy the FSA 386evo to 24mm (HT2 dia) reducer.

Wheels manufacturing do similar, or if you want a full on Sram drivertrain the 22mm version.
No need for convertor BB's unless you are having problems with your bearings.
I suspect the weights are a bit out on the websites though- can't see the fsa ones being nearly 50g a piece...

BB386 has a 86.5mm shell width, that means you can't have anything with a narrower stance than that. That effectively rules out PF30/BB30 specific cranks. Anything that is designed for a shimano standard width (90.5mm) will fit because it's wide enough. FSA/Sram GXP/Shimano Hollowtech will fit.
You can get whatever chainrings that will fit the BB design that the OP goes for.

I used the FSA adapters and ran a Shimano Dura Ace 9000 crank for a few months. Worked fine. No issue. I don't remember the weight off the top of my head.
