Hi

I recently bought a Trek Emonda ALR 5 and noticed that the rear wheel wasn't centered so i tried
to center it but it didn't work and always sits closer to the drivetrain side both at the chainstays and the seatstays. Have tried 3 diffireent wheels because i thought that the dish of the wheel was wrong but every wheel seems to end up in the same position.

Can somebody that owns Emonda ALR 5,6 or 4 check and see if it's supposed to be like this? I've emaild trek Sweden but they say that they have a lot to do and it take 5 days until they have time to look in to it....

2 pictres of new 23 mm tires and 1 with 25 mm tire. Hard to find an angle of the chainstays but the seatstays is easier...

Check the dropouts to make sure one of them doesn't have extra paint/material. If so, a little bit of filing will probably take care of your issue.

Take it back to the shop and let them deal with Trek.
Don't risk your warranty by messing with it yourself.

for what its worth, I have an emonda sl6 with crooked drops outs, trek said it was " within their spec " and wouldn't do anything to warranty or fix the frame. Ended up sanding the drop out to get it as strait as possible, pulled the group off to build another bike, it now has tiagra and is a trainer only bike. Wish you better luck.Image

thanks guys!!! will go to the store and talk to them tomorrow. I got about the same difference... it sucks because i was going to put 28 mm tires on and it feel like it going to be a little to close to the drivetrain side.

agreed just ridiculous, there are many happy owners of treks, and seems most people get good customer service. Maybe if i would of pushed a little harder i could of got it replaced, all the back and forth was exhausting. Lost a customer from me, and anytime an acquaintance mentions trek i let them know how they handled it. It is a great bike on the trainer though. One of the instances where not only are you shopping for a bike you like but a good LBS.

Hopefully the shop you got it from or trek stand behind there product. IF they won't replace it and IF your only planning on using the same wheels, you could get the rear dished off center so the wheel would be centered to the frame, I'm unsure if this would cause any longterm spoke problems though. Maybe build up one drop out with a little epoxy, not sure how good of an idea that is though.

yeah, hoping for the best. In worstcase i will take some epoxy or just don't use bigger tires..

Poor manufacturing. Simple as.

Can't imagine them doing anything though. 'Within manufacturing tolerances' is what they might say.

Sorry, that's sh#t. In the UK, as long as the purchase is reasonably recent the problem would rest with the vendor, and they then get to deal with the manufacturer. That's not acceptable.

Talked to the store on sunday and they said that they will return it and send me a new one. Got an email today that a new bike is on it's way :D
