Hi all,
Sorry, another question about my tarmac build. Im looking for stems and have always used a 3t. But, looking at the specialized documents that came with my frameset, specialized state this:
NON-SPECIALIZED BRANDED STEMS:
Specialized recommends against the use of non-Specialized-
branded stems with large bore holes in contact with the steerer
tube. Large bore holes reduce the clamping surface area and may concentrate the load onto the carbon steerer tube in an unsafe manner.
As we cannot test every combination[b], Specialized does not warrant the use of non-Specialized branded stems with Specialized forks (carbon steerer tubes) and Specialized Long Steerer Expander Plugs, unless specified as original equipment by Specialized. Specialized hereby disclaims all warranties, including the warranties of fitness for particular purpose and merchantibility.
It seems crazy that no stems other than specialized can be used. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks
specialized warranty

That's just for the lawyers talking. American company, in a highly litigious world.
Just use your common sense.
I have 2 Sworks Tarmacs, one with a Zipp Service Course SL, the other a Rotor.
I haven't died yet......
