So I've installed the new wireless transmitter (aka new d-fly unit - EW-WU101) and the compatible battery (BT-DN110-1) . When I hooked the bike up to the e-tap program on windows I was able to update firmware for all components but couldn't find any option for setting up/enabling synchro shifting.

Any managed to do this yet?

Is it possible that synchro shifting is only available in the iPad version of the e-tap app?

The rest of the group set is Dura-Ace Di2 9070 btw.

Thanks

Synchro shifting is not out yet. There will be another firmware update to support it. We are all anxiously awaiting this.

Shimano said "Available for all in November 2016"

Here:

http://bike.shimano.com/content/sac-bik ... grate.html

Shimano Synchronized Shift will be available for all previous 11-speed Di2 road component groups with the use of new Di2 firmware and accessories in November 2016.

Sure, November is not over yet, but I have a bad feeling they won't respect what they said.

Thanks for the heads up. Good to hear I don't have to run out and buy an iPad just for this

not quite sure about that either. i was under the assumption that the software for iOS was only meant for the iPad, not the iPhones. correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah but I'm still hoping they will offer it on the windows version.

Still trying to get my head around why they offered an iPad version before the mac (OS X) version that the other half of the world has been waiting for. And if the their goal was to make it "mobile"...well I don't know anyone that carries an iPad in their jersey pocket.

Or the reps make stuff up to keep consumers happy.

Far more likely!

Hi mate, the new wireless unit is just for two way communication and not needed for Synchro shifting. You will still be able to connect via USB to update firmware and configure your set up etc. However if you want the Wireless connection with the Di2, you will need NEW EW-WU111. The D-Fly model you have mentioned above (EW-WU101) is the old/current model which only sends a signal to your Garmin/Magellan etc to view gear information, battery level etc.

From my reading the only thing that you will need to upgrade for Synchro shifting is the primary junction box (as you've got the latest battery), so something like the Shimano EW-RS910. This model will need new cabling to your shifters however if you are just wanting to replace your current external junction box there is mention of a EW-RS911 but haven't seen pictures of that yet to confirm.

I hope this helps, please anyone jump in if this information is incorrect

R9120, R9170 - syncroshift enabled with firmware 3.2.0 or newer
6870, 9070 - syncroshift enabled with firmware 3.2.1 or newer
6770 - no syncroshift

needed: new battery/mount
not needed: wireless unit
old junction EW90 is ok
new junction RS910/RS911 is optional

shimano rep:

Road Synchro requires the new BT-DN110 battery as well as Synchro-capable firmware written to all the other components. The updated EW90 with firmware v 3.0.4 (or newer) controls Road Synchro function provided that the rest of the system has the Synchro-capable firmware too. Last week's E-Tube Project app version 3.2.0 does not support Road Synchro from 6870 or 9070...The next version release will bring Road Synchro to 6870 / 9070. We're expecting it shortly after the new year.

Just to clarify, the EW-WU101 is one of the new bluetooth enabled transmitters, not the old D-fly (old D-fly is SM-EWW01. i have that one too. its similar shape but slightly larger and no bluetooth). I managed to connect the new one (EW-WU101) to the tube app on my phone via bluetooth a couple days ago, so bluetooth is definitely working.

So has anyone heard when the synchroshift update for 9070/6870 will be available?
