Hey

Has anyone modified their seat+post and attached them together?

I have a cheap carbon seat and post that I'd like to try this on as a winter project.

Now it seems to me that the contact surface will be quite small. How to ensure the seat and post remains attached? What kind of preparation and glues/chemicals are required for this?

Obviously dremeling the rails away and the top of the post to fit nicely together is the first step. The second? :D

Even if it's too much to write, a little is better than nothing. Appreciate it! Then just piece it together, no problem.

It will make the saddle so rigid as to be pretty uncomfortable.......

I thought it could do the opposite since the wings where the sit bones are will have a longer lever and flex some more. My carbon seat already has no flex in the middle.

I hope I'm not breaking a rule by bumping this. Anyone?

I'm thinking about Berk's seatpost combo:

It looks like there's a fin in front and behind the seatpost itself, which helps hold the saddle in place. Carbon fiber's definitely needed to make this fin. I'm guessing the fin opens up underneath the saddle (like a 'T') with the top part supporting the saddle. It should help to be able to vacuum bag the whole thing.

It might also be possible to bond the rails directly to the post itself:

I did it and found this to be very true.
