As the title implies. There was a thread with the same title 7 years ago so it's not exactly useful these days.

Pro Vibe- 135, new version is claimed at 120g.
Thomson X2- Clamp issues sketch me out, 131g.
Any other better options? I know Extralite does -12.

Yes, Extralite Hyperstem (+-12 degrees) is the lighter one, just 79 grams in size 100

Last gen Pro 7s weighs 144g for 130mm. I would not recommend the Extralite stem for you. My experience is that it's flexy enough to negatively influence bike handling (e.g. descending in a straight line, causing wobble).

why do you list the Easton EA90 which is aluminum while there is Easton EC90 being carbon and weight 110g (that maybe the weight of shorter size, i don't really know)

The EC90 is a pretty ugly stem and doesn't look good on any of the bikes I've seen it on.

Weird, a guy I know races pro and WC XC and has used the new Hyperstem with 0 issues. Another friend has them on his road bikes and at 170lbs said he didn't notice much. Was this the older version?
I need a 110 or 120 and it'll go on my Epic WC
EC90 isn't an option as its fugly and not that much lighter.
I had the Road OC stem. Above 40mph on a straight descent the bike would become darty. I got rid of the Xicon because of that. After the C59 was already on the way, I got a Zipp SL stem to swap in and found out the problem went away with the new stem. The newer version is less stiff fwiw.
I had been told that the new version (aside from FWB's test) was stiffer. Never heard of such a problem.
I think there is more of a problem with your front end than stem stiffness, stem stiffness would not cause a speed wobble,......fork steerers are more flexy than stems..

That's what I figured and why I got rid of the Xicon. Speed wobble is the wrong word, becoming darty is more appropriate. My last ride on the Xicon I put on the Zipp SL stem and did a 50+ mph descent and it was rock stable.
@kwalker, make sure you get the revised one that doesn't bite into the fork steerer. If you get one, let us know how it goes since you're going to be more of a demanding user than the typical purchaser. On the other hand, the amount of weight placed on the stem is a lot higher on road so it may not be noticeable on XC.

Not to derail. But I don't think Thomson has much of that problem anymore. Personally I think a lot of cracked faceplates was due to people running carbon bars, no carbon paste, and to prevent bar slippage would over torque the bolts. I run an X2 on my bike, haven't cracked a faceplate yet and I'm not particularly easy on my bikes. But definitely not the lightest stem out there nor the stiffest.
