One quick tip from a THM maven. The SE comes with a thin plastic collar for the NDS of the spindle, which is slightly wedged. Once your BB is in, you need to make sure this collar fits inside the left bearing then try to mount the spindle. It will become a tight fit as the right side is pressed in, but if the collar slides out any, start over. Because it's plastic and can deform if you try to press it back into place over the spindle. If all else fails, a 30mm ID washer could be used very gently on the outside of the collar.
Bringing this thread back up...
I've just installed the bb386 evo cups from thm on a Wilier. Pressing the cups took no force at all. I get it; it should not be the battle of wills. And yet, this one was way too easy, I could turn the press arms (parktool hhp-1) with my pinkies.
I have another bike with bb30. On that one, two sides screw to each other. And still there was some force involved putting them together.
I've used blue loctite, but still wondering if that is enough.
Anybody had similar experience with thm's new bb386 cups?
P.S. new ones have plastic housing. Older ones, are all metal...
