As far as I can see, Campag are saying that the 11-32 version of the new 'Campagnolo 11' cassette is only approved for use with Potenza, and should not be used with the other groups which take a max of 29. Agree?

But I of course know that in many scenarios the 32 will work just fine with the regular groups.

That would depend highly on your derailleur hanger. It will be matter of testing.

I believe there is a "mid cage" version of the Potenza, which is what should be used with an 11-32.

The regular "short cage" RD's will take up 32T.

An 11-32 will need 35T takeup with a 53/39 or 37T takeup with a 50/34. Both too much for a short cage RD.

I'm buying Athena Triple and wondering whether to go with 32 or err on the side of caution and buy 29.

It's not the issue of take up, but more the issue of whether there is enough clearance for the RD to work.

I have the 2015 chorus groupset and used a 150 11-32 last summer without any problems.. it was a bit more noisy but shifting was good.
ofcourse, I avoided big-big combinations
But I could be wrong
