Hello WW,

Currently I am rocking the original SRAM Red Crankset and a GXP Praxis bottom bracket adapter on my SL4 S-works Tarmac (631g & 151g). I would like to drop some weight this winter and ran across a pretty great deal on a Cannondale Hollowgram SiSL crankset (480g claimed). With a decent bottom bracket I think I could shave 200 grams off the combination. I had a couple questions for the group before I pull the trigger

1: How hard is it to get the Cannondale and Hollowgram decals off the crankset?
2: Will there be any issues installing the crankset because OSBB is thinner or will it just require more spacers?
3: Are there any special tools or tricks to install the Hollowgram crankset. I saw putting it in the freeze to contract the metal
4: Will a 1091R chain work with this crankset.

Thanks for your time!

1. If you have the silver, acetone. If they are black, use a paint pen.
2. No issues, i use 3 spacers plus a wave washer. (Venge has OSBB too)
3. Install, no special tools, just a 10mm allen. Removal, yes a special tool from cannondale. The freezer is not always needed. As with any tight fit, liberally apply lube to shaft for easy slide into both holes.
4. Yes

Thanks for the response. It's the black version. Did you happen to weigh the crankset before you put it on? 480g is a pretty bold claim, considering the SiSL2 actual weigh is 484g.

170 mm was 410 gm with fixing bolts, bearing shileds, spacers and wave washer.( mkv 50-34 chain rings + bolts @ 110 gm) so 520 gm. Add ~50 gm for bb30 bearings and the whole deal is under 580 gm

I ran this set up on an sworks sl4 last summer. Wheels MfG has a spacer kit that goes between the frame and their pf30 bottom bracket to make the osbb the same width as bb30. Easy as can be. The above poster is correct, easy install with a 10mm Allen. Removal does not require the cannondale tool though, search YouTube for removing cannondale crank and you'll find how to make your own tool out of a steel rod. Works perfectly.

Ive used a 1/4 drive deep socket with an extension and the park tool CCP-22, just unscrew fixing bolt, put the socket with extension in the axel and then thread in the CCP-22 and it'll push against the socket/extension and you're good to go

Thanks for all the help guys. I decided to pull the trigger on the crankset and will post the weight when it gets here. If anyone else is interested in the crankset they are $200 at Stage 21 bikes.
