All

Just starting my Colnago E1 build - gradually and found one of these at a very good price < £150 brand new with the right crank length and chain rings.

This will now convince me to go 11 speed (as I was wavering between 10 and 11 speed.)

The E1 has an Italian threaded BB and Campy never made Italian Threaded cups for the crank set. So after reading a lot on various forums it looks like this should work:

Now I know we've a huge number of mechanics and experts on here so just wanted to check my thinking is correct before buying the BB? Or alternatively if there is a better option?

To me it looks like the Tune will come with a number of spacers etc which I think will be the challenge to get the DS and NDS spacing correct?

Welcome your guys input please.

Thanks

A

Hey mate,

I'm planning a similar thing for my Colnago and have been scouring the internet for info - yours is one of the few posts I've found on the subject.

Could you tell me how you went with this? Did it work out?

Cheers,

Abe

Welcome to the forum...

I did a lot of research as well before trying the build which has been successful, though it had a couple of challenges around the BB during the build. I am now happily riding the E1 as my normal training ride without issues, very smooth, nor creaks or noises - just what you want. It is the first full summer with the bike so I haven't put 1000s of kms on it yet but see no reason why it would not stand up to it. Also I had a number of private message discussions with Graeme on here who is the UK resident Campagnolo expert!

I have posted in a number of threads my experience around Over Torque and Italian BBs and though not everyone agrees with me, I think I'm one of the few to have tried it for real.

Have a look at this thread:

http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=144971

In it I describe what I did and there are a couple of pictures as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will try and help.
