Madison had what they called 'graded stock' which were frames they received that had cosmetic defects that shops or customer wouldn't accept as new quality.
That had nothing to do with them losing the dealership to Derby after the PON takeover. That happened because Derby Cycle is PON. They were never going to pay someone else to distribute for them when their own in house distribution channel could do it in a more centralised, streamlined manner instead.
