Hello! (first post)
Recently weighed my sunday-best bike on a scale and it came in around the 7.4kg mark. This was a little heavier than expected, so I attempted to total up the components and see what weighs what.
The bike seems to weigh ~500g more than the sum of the manufacturer's stated weights (with a bit of judicious rounding up too).
Am I missing something (frameset,groupset,wheels,tyres,tubes,bars,stem,pedals,seatpost,saddle,chain,bar-tape,qr skewers, bottle, cages, cables) or is just that Maybe every component weighs more than stated?
What am I missing?

Your issue here is "manufacturer's stated weights."
Those are atrociously off in many cases, don't include paint / clearcoat and may be provided in the smallest frame / component size.

Don't forget to count the cables and housings. They are not included in derailleur or shifter weights.
