Bora 35mm One brand new - or - Bora 35mm Ultra used
Moderator: robbosmans
So I can get a set of used Bora ultras with vitorria tires used for the same price as brand new Ones.
What would you go with. Total piece of mind of getting brand new. Or going use but upgrading to the Ultra and getting some used tires too.
I have only had the ones - so I can in no way speak to the Ultra.

That's a tough call but perhaps the Ultras are priced slightly too high still imo. They should be 1/2 price or less which should be slightly lower the new B'Ones.
Warranty and new is what I would do. I've got 5k miles on B'Ones and can't fault them.

Unless the condition is excellent, I'll go for a brand new Bora One (peace of mind)
As for the used ultra 35, it's also worth checking if it is the wide or the previous narrow version.
Cheers

My 20 cents worth says purchase new Bora One, (make sure they are the new wider 24.2mm rims) and if really necessary pay the circa US $200 for the HB-BO100 CULT ceramic bearing kit......
Bora One 35 already come fitted with Campag USB ceramic bearings which are plenty good enough for me - excellent all round wheels - the tubulars that is.......

Listening to the stories of everyone who has ever used the bora ultra bora one and feel the difference in performance and weight is difficult, so very little light

If clinchers then used Bora Ultras so long as the condition looks good. They've only been out a bit over a year so unlikely to have had much wear. Mine have done 8000 miles and still look new.

The braking surface on the new Bora is extremely robust, very hard-wearing.

More and more I buy used cycling equipment. It's so easy to find low mileage parts at 50% off since this stuff depreciates so quickly. How often does one really use the one year warranty?

The Cult bearings are very nice. I bought Ultra tubulars and wouldn't have made a different purchase given the chance.
