Not race in. Just ride in?

About to come into possession of some 62mms which might be hard to sell off at a decent price (Reynolds Strike Clincher 62mms). They come with a bike for the other half, she won't use them (Canyon Aeroad).

If I can't sell them what do you think I should do with them. Save for an aero build? Use for calm days and TT efforts or something like that?

Maybe 62mms aren't so bad and I'm more worried about wind than I should - what sort of wind speeds would you use deeper rims up to?

I ride HED Jet 6 (60 mm deep rim) all the time. But then I am a bigger guy (1.85 m / 100 kg) so it is harder for me to get blown around.

62kg here, I use Roval CLX 60 as my go-to wheels, even in the hilly Ardennes. I'm not even going to swap them for a trip to Bormio in september. They're light enough.

Those are nice rims! Enjoy the free speed. If you have not ridden wheels deeper than 45mm you are going to find that they hold momentum better and like to sit at speed easier. Cross winds will affect handling of course, but it is nice to have a deeper set of wheels in your quiver.

Enve 6.7s.. considered 7.8 .. but the rim is 27.5 wide in the rear.. that's getting big for my old Parlee. I already have issue running 25c clinchers and chain stay rub.
If I want the new brake tracks (and I do).. probably going to sell my 6.7 and 4.5

CLX40 rims on the disc bike or CLX60 or 606 V3s on the race bike, you get used to the wind and they become a non issue. I'm actually wanting an 808fc front now :)

Same for me, only at 1.75m/63kg. There's only been a handful of times I've wished I was on something shallower.

Another Jet 6 rider here. 6ft/175lb. Pretty much the same experience as these two before me.

55mm deep 25mm wide U shaped rims and I ride them every ride on my nice road bike. It's not my commuter/beater so it doesn't go out in the rain if I can avoid it. That is to keep the bike nice and not about stopping power. It's not as bad as I feared in the rain.

Is there a wind speed that you would recommend not riding deep sections like these in, or is it too variable, depending on rider weight, handling, experience etc?

1.74cm at 74k. 60mm x 25mm rear and 50mm x 25mm front with tubulars 25mm continental sprinters. I ride in the mountains. When you are coming down a hill at high speed any kind of low wind is unbearable with the 60mm in the front.

I swap between 46mm (46 Aero) and 29mm (Reynolds Attack), ostensibly depending on terrain and wind but realistically I don't feel that much difference between them. Attack wheels are slightly lighter and seem to get moving a bit quicker.
